Drop tank package are optional available.

    History:
The A-1 Skyraider was initially developed during WWII to perform as a carrier based long-range torpedo/dive bomber. It missed the second world war by a few months, but quickly proved itself as a reliable performer, capable of carrying a tremendous amount of ordanance on seven hardpoints on each wing, while maintaining excellent low speed manueverability.
It could loiter on target for much longer periods than faster aircraft and deliver its substantial load of ordanance with greater precision.

These design acteristics resulted in it seeing substantial combat in Korea, and later in Vietnam, it proved extremely beneficial. Although the USN and USMC were beginning to phase out the Skyraider in favour of the A-6 Intruder, it continued to see substantial service, with many being transferred to the USAF they were used in a close support role, particularly with the Air Rescue and Recovery Service they protected downed pilots until HH-3 Jolly Green Giants were able to extract them to safety. It also saved the lives of hundreds of servicemen who were facing imminent harm, thanks to its ability to deliver ordanance in close proximity to ground forces. At least two USAF pilots recieved the Congressional Medal of Honour for actions they undertook while flying the Skyraider.

    Skyraider Trivia
The Skyraider probably holds the record for the most nicknames for an aircraft including:
"Spad" (a bi-winged airplane flown in World War I), "Able Dog" (phonetic AD), the "Destroyer," "Hobo" (radio call sign of the USAF 1st Air Commando/Special operations Squadron), "Firefly" (602nd ACS/SOS), "Zorro" (22nd SOS), "The Big Gun," "Old Faithful," "Old Miscellaneous," "Fat Face" (AD-5/A-1E version, side-by-side seating), "Guppy" (AD-5W version), "Q-Bird" (AD-1Q/AD-5Q versions), "Flying Dumptruck" (A-1E), "Sandy" (Combat Search And Rescue helicopter escort) and "Crazy Water Buffalo" (South Vietnamese nickname).

That has to be some kind of record!

    ESM Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless

    MODEL:Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless
    Length: 1400mm(55”)
    Wing span: 1803mm(71”)
    Wing area: 52.9sq.dm(5.7sq.ft)
    Wing loading: 117.2g/sq.dm(38.4oz/sq.ft)
    Flying weight: 6200g(13.7lbs)
    Radio: 6ch & 9servos
    Engine: 108 2-cycle(120 4-cycle)

    Construction:
Fiberglass fuse and balsa built-up wing
Wing Covering Material: Covering, painted, decals applied and clear coated. The aircraft has a beautiful flat, non-glossy finish. This is superior to glossy covering materials. It is scratch, tear and wrinkle resistant. The covering material is a brand name covering which has a special paint adherant layer. The covering goes on clear, and is then primed and painted, then clearcoated.

    Optional:
Retractable landing gear set with oleo struts, alloy wheels. The retracts are generation 5 Air up/air down retracts, and incorporate all of the latest design improvements.

    About this Model
The Douglas SBD Dauntless was the main USN divebomber from 1940 until late 1943 when it was replaced by the SBD2C Helldiver. Built around an 1100 hp Wright Cyclone engine, the SBD was an popular and enduring design, with over 1000 built for the USN and Marines in only three years of service.

The Dauntless was equipped with two .50 calibre machine guns in each wing, and two in the rear gunner position. This meant that pilots of the Dauntless often took on lightly armoured Japanese fighters, which often lacked self-sealing fuel tanks, and a few hits would knock them out.

By virtue of returning to Hawaii from the USS Enterprise, the SBD was one of the first aircraft to fire in anger at the Japanese. Several aircraft were returning to Pearl Harbour from the USS enterprise, only to find it under attack. The Dauntless saw its first major engagement at the Battle of the Coral Sea, along with TBD's the Dauntless sunk the carrier INS Shoho, and were also used as fighters against Japanese torpedo bombers attacking the USS Lexington and USS Yorktown.

At the Battle of Midway, the SBD was instrumental in sinking 4 Japanese Carriers (The INS Akagi, INS Kaga, INS Soryu, and INS Hiryu), as well as heavily damaging or sinking two heavy cruisers. The importance of the SBD's performance is difficult to overstate, as the Japanese navy was crippled by the losses. The USN would have a much easier time moving from battle to battle with 4 Japanese carriers at the bottom of the Pacific, so it was a critical win for the USN, and the SBD's part in it was essential.

The SBD also participated in the Guadalcanal campaign, sinking the carrier INS Ryujo near the Solomon Island chain, and continued long past its obsolescence until the Battle of the Philippine Sea in 1944, after which it was retired in the navy. Marine SBD units continued to use the aircraft until the end of the war. It was responsible for more Japanese sunk than any other aircraft, and also finished the war with more aerial kills than losses to Japanese fighters, which is a fascinating statistic for a dive bomber.

This model is of an SPD Dauntless operated by VB-16, from the USS Lexington during the Tarawa landings in November 1943. The pilots of VB-16 helped the marines on the ground through 3 days of bloody fighting as 4800 Japanese soldiers held out to the last man.

    ESM Hawker sea fury

    MODELHawker sea fury(ITEM NO: W048)
    Wing span:       2032mm(80")
    Length:            1753mm(69")
    Wing area:        75.7sq.dm(8.1sq.ft)
    Wing loading:  107g/sq.dm(35.1oz/sq.ft)
    Flying weight:   8.1kg(17.8bs)
    Radio:               6ch & 7servos
    Engine:          30cc-40cc gasoline engine

    History:

It was a development from the Hawker Tempest, itself a development of the Hawker Typhoon. Originally, the Hawker Fury was designed by Sidney Camm in 1942 under F.2/43 specification, to provide the RAF with a lightweight replacement for the Tempest II.

On  23 June, 1942, Luftwaffe Pilot Oberleutnant Arnim Faber erroneously landed his Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-3 fighter at RAF Pembrey, apparently having mistaken this airfield for a Luftwaffe channel coast airfield. The British were thereby presented with a working example of the Fw 190 fighter, which had been giving the RAF an extremely difficult time. The Hawker Fury design was a direct result of the examination of Faber's Fw 190A-3. Examination of Faber's aircraft was largely responsible for the preparation of Specification F.6/42, which called for a new, high-performance fighter.

Early in 1944, a revised naval specification, N.22/43, supplanted N.7/43. and in April 1944 contracts were placed for 200 F.2/43 planes for the RAF and 200 N.22/43 planes for the Fleet Air Arm. The first Sea Fury prototype, SR661, flew on 21 February, 1945. It was powered by a Centaurus XII engine driving a four-bladed propeller. This airplane had a deck arrester hook under the rudder, but retained fixed wings. The second Sea Fury prototype, SR666, was powered by a Centaurus XV driving a five-bladed propeller and was a fully navalized aircraft with folding wings. The prototype Sea Fury SR661 was subsequently tested for its suitability as a naval fighter, and in deck landing trials, at the A&AEE Boscombe Down in May 1945. Tests were still underway as the Japanese surrendered in August 1945.

With the end of the Second World War, the RAF cancelled all production contracts for the Fury, deciding to concentrate all of its future efforts on jet fighters. The Royal Navy reduced its order for Sea Furies to 100 aircraft, and canceled the Boulton-Paul contract in its entirety.

The first production aircraft - a Mark 10 which was a carrier-based version, with folding wings- did not make its initial flight until September 1946. Although originally intended to serve with both the RAF and FAA, the RAF order was cancelled at the end of the war. The first deck trials with Sea Fury TF898 began aboard HMS Victorious during the winter of 1946-47. The Mark 10 was approved for carrier operations in Spring 1947, and five Fleet Air Arm squadrons were then equipped with the Sea Fury. The Mark 10 was followed by the Mark 11 fighter-bomber - 615 of these were eventually delivered to the Navy.  It became the Fleet Air Arm's principal single-seat fighter and remained so until the introduction of the Sea Hawk jet fighter in 1953.

    History
The Ju-87 is the quintessential German WWII aircraft. The Stuka, which is short for Sturzkampfflugzeug (dive bomber),served with distinction in almost every theatre. It was one of the keys to the early victories of the Wehrmact in Poland, France, the Low ries and around the mediterranean.

In the Blitzkreig of Poland in 1939 and the early 1940's offensive operations, it acted as mobile artillery ahead of the wehrmact's fast moving armoured troops. With its screaming dive siren, the stuka spread fear amongst troops on the recieving end of its attacks. The aircraft's lines were quite unique with inverted gull wings and an angular and aggressive appearing fuselage.

Almost 6000 were produced, and they were used from North Africa to the coasts of England, and from Norway to the Russian steppes. They also saw service during the Spanish Revolution.

By the end of 1940 the Stuka was essentially obsolescent, however, the development of new ground attack aircraft was proceeding very slowly, the Germans began developing an improved version of the Stuka. The D version, also known as the Dora mated the proven Stuka airframe to an upgraded engine, increased the range and upgraded the armour.

The Dora version, saw extensive service on every front of the German war effort. Hans Rudel, the most decorated German pilot of WWII flew a Dora. Rudel used the Stuka to sink a WWI era Russian battleship in Leningrad harbour. By February 1945, Rudel had flown over 1800 sorties, and destroyed over 202 tanks with his Stuka before being badly wounded after being hit by 40mm anti-aircraft fire. His life was saved by his observer, but his right leg had to be amputated. Amazingly, he returned to service and destroyed 26 more tanks before surrendering to US forces in May 1945. By the end of the war he had flown 2530 sorties and destroyed 2000 ground targets, sunk a battleship, 2 cruisers and a destroyer. He ended the war as the most decorated German pilot of all time, and compiled a world record for most operational sorties by any pilot. His skills were later influential in the development of the A-10 Warthog II by the US military in the 1970's. Without his trusty Stuka, Rudel would never have achieved his remarkable career.

ESM Fieseler Fi 156 Storch wingspan=2400mm

    MODEL:Fieseler Fi 156 Storch

    Length:          1614mm(63.5")

    Wing span:       2362mm(93")

    Wing area:       61.68sq.dm(6.64sq.ft)

    Wing loading:    116.7g/sq.dm(38.3oz/sq.ft)

    Flying weight:   7.2kg(15.8lbs)

    Radio:           6ch & 7servos

    Engine:          120 4-cycle

History: The fabric-covered Storch observation monoplane served the German Forces throughout World War Two ver the Germans saw combat. With ten times the life expectancy of the Bf 109 fighter, the Storch ("Stork") proved to be a rugged Short Take Off and Landing (STOL) airplane that gained the respect of all its pilots.

The Storch was first flown in 1936. Using a fixed slat over the leading edge of the wing and slotted camber-changing flaps along the trailing edge, the Storch achieved incredible short take-off performance. In a light breeze the Storch could take off in just 200 feet (60 meters) and land in about 66 feet (20 meters). It had a crew of three, and with extensive windows surrounding the occupants, made an excellent observation and liaison aircraft. Production for the German armed forces began with the Fi 156A-1. The Fi 156C, which had the rear glazing raised to accommodate a machine gun for defense, soon replaced the A-1. Other variants included a tropical version with dust filters, an ambulance version carrying a single stretcher, and an enlarged version (Fi 256) with seating for five built in limited numbers in France between 1943 and 1944. Fieseler began building the Storch in Germany, but was soon forced to move production to Morane-Saulnier in France (as the M.S.500 Criquet) and Mraz in Czechoslovakia (as the K-65 Cap). This was done to make room for the BF 109 at the Fieseler plant.

The Fieseler Storch was the last dogfight victim of the western front. Pilot Duanes Francies and his observer, Lieutenant William Martin, of the 5th US Army Division, spotted a Storch circling below them while looking for ground targets in their Piper Cub. Diving on the Storch, the two men opened fire with their Colt .45s and the plane spiraled to the ground. After a short gun battle, Francies and his observer took the two Germans into custody. Lt. Martin was awarded the Air Medal for his part in the fight, but Francies would have to wait until the story was reported in Cornelius Ryan's book "The Last Battle," to finally be awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. The USAF was 22 years late. Apart from being the last Luftwaffe plane lost in the west, this Storch was also the only enemy plane downed by pistol fire during the war.

After the war Morane-Saulnier continued to produce the Storch as the M.S.500, and Mraz continued to build the K-65 Cap. Over 2,900 Fi 156s were produced. Today, more than 30 Fi 156s and their brethren have survived in Europe and North America, and about 20 are still capable of flying today

    ASM F7-F Tigercat ARTF 2090mm (82")

    Optional retracts struts available

Developed as a fighter, the F7F Tigercat was notable for its twin engines, slim fuselage, tricycle undercarriage and shoulder mounted wings. Fast, powerful and well armed, the Tigercat arrived in service just too late to see action in WW2, consequently many orders were cancelled, resulting in a total of only 364 being built - 6 still being airworthy at the time of writing.

The ASM F7F is an exciting replica of the original. Its impressive 2,090mm wingspan results in a model that is big enough to fly superbly, with a low wing loading for docile stall and landing characteristics, yet due to the three piece wing, it breaks down easily to fit into most vehicles. Although not a beginner's model, the F7F is the ideal intro into the world of scale twins as its flying performance is so good, even if one engine stops in flight.

Due to ASM's unique airframe design, it is substantially lighter than traditionally built examples, which all translates into easier flying, gentler landings and better aerobatic performance. The ASM F7F Tigercat comes fully built and covered, leaving only final assembly plus radio, engine, and optional retract installation.

The model can be finished with working retract doors and beautiful aluminium frame air-retracts (sold separately) to achieve a truly scale appearance.
